Artist displays decade of photographic prowess - A&E - The Inkwell - Armstrong Atlantic State University
My first article published for this semestar! It was also my very first time writing about art. I found this article a little uncomfortable to write because of my lack of knowledge about art and its technicalities. Then to make matters even more challenging, the artist's style was extremely eccentric that it was hard to describe without being redundant. The overall objective or angle on this article was the most difficult. While writing, I found myself getting lost at times and uncertain with what direction to go in.
But this assignment did require me to visit the Jepson Center, which was another first for me. I forced a friend to come with me; going to unfamiliar places alone is never fun. We had a good time inside! We browsed at all the exhibits and even befriended some of the other spectators, who I was able to get quotes from.
In all, it was a good learning experience. The published version contained edits with better transitional sentences, more details regarding the artist himself, and a polished lead.
Sometimes it's really good to push yourself as a writer -- writing about new and unusual topics can be a great impetus to professional improvement.
